Stand at the crossroads & look; & ask for the eternal paths, where the ancient path is; then walk in it, & you will find rest for your souls. I have set watchmen (prophets) over you saying, ‘Hear & obey the sound of the trumpet.’
Key prophetic words of the “bigger picture” for this hour are being trumpeted now. The Body of Christ is at a crossroad. Our nation is at a crossroad. A “crossroad” is a place of decision, a turning point, & an opportunity to change direction, course or goal. It is a fork in the road which requires a choice & has a before & an after. There is great warfare & chaos at this crossroad, which is evident around us, as the enemy attempts to stir-up fear & confusion & to distract us from keeping our eyes & ears tuned to the Lord. This word in Jeremiah 6 provides us with sound advice: stand at the crossroad – listen, consider, don’t proceed rashly but do as travelers on the road who care to find the right road which will bring them to their desired destination. God is our ultimate GPS! It is a Kairos time for leaders to ponder in our hearts & watch our feet as we seek the direction of the path ahead. When we ask for the ancient path, it is in order to find the Highway of the Lord so that we walk in the light of God’s Kingdom grace & truth – building firm on the covenant foundation of God’s throne of righteousness & justice; manifesting His great love for all peoples as His glorious name is blessed & the whole earth is filled with His glory!
The ancient path is established by God & never changes; however, how He appears & how we encounter Him on this ancient path can be unfamiliar to us – see John 21:1-7; Luke 24:13-25. Moses encountered the “Great I AM” at a burning bush & was called to come out of his 40 year identity as a shepherd into a new identity as a “sent one” to lead in the redemption of God’s people out of Egypt. Gideon was met by the Lord as he fearfully hid from his nation’s enemies. He was called into a new identity as “a mighty man of valor.” Joshua entered a new identity as he crossed the Jordan River & met the Commander of the Lord’s Army who was neither for him nor for his adversary. See Joshua 5:13-15; Judges 6-7; Exodus 3.
Some of us may not see our self as a leader. Gideon didn’t. Is it time to ask for a sign from God & to step out in whatever measure of faith we have? Some of us may perceive we are not able to fill the bigness of the shoes of God’s call on our life. Moses could only be in touch with his “smallness.” BUT, GOD! Joshua was at least 80 years old & God chose him to lead the younger generation of Israelites to fight the needed battles to establish God’s name in the land of Canaan. Joshua experienced God’s great redemption of his people out of Egypt; he walked 40 years in the wilderness with those who died there. He had a vision of where God was taking them. He demonstrated his faith in the ability of God to fulfill His promises regardless of what lay ahead. Joshua was willing, available & teachable! He was seasoned & obedient to God regardless of the cost. And Joshua encountered God in new ways – at the crossing of the Jordan; at Jericho; at Ai & at other places in his journey. (Joshua 6-8)
We are all at a crossroad in a Kairos time. Watch out for fear & distraction! With our eyes upon the Lord & listening for the sound of His trumpet, being filled with joy & expectation, look to encounter Him!
The only true hope we have is in the ONE who cannot be elected.
